We meet with you for a one hour complimentary session to discuss your needs and goals and to get to know each other. It is important for us to gain an understanding of who you are. How have you gotten to where you are today? Where do you see your life in the future? How do you make decisions?
We talk about the financial planning process, including assessment of your spending, assets and debts, investments, outlook for retirement, tax strategies, insurance coverage and estate planning. Our fee is also discussed at the complimentary meeting.
Based on our discussion, we deliver a proposal for your financial plan, including its cost. When you decide to work with us, we will send you a questionnaire and a list of documents needed to get started on your plan.
There is no typical client, and we tailor the financial plan to your specific needs.
In general, creation of the plan occurs over the course of three meetings:
Meeting 1: We discuss your goals in more detail, confirm that the objectives of the plan meet your needs, and review and discuss your personal financial information (bank and investment account statements, tax returns, etc.).
Meeting 2: We review the work-in-progress financial plan, with a particular emphasis on your income and expenses, and your assets and debts. We establish scenarios for your financial plan. One example might be examining your outlook for retirement if you work until age 60 versus age 65. This type of analysis will help you in making decisions about your future.
Meeting 3: We present and discuss your financial plan, including specific recommendations for how to achieve your goals. We also talk about ongoing financial planning, depending on your needs.
